Serbia Tour - 7 days

Dear Zlatan,

 We have settled back in Boston, but still thinking often of our marvelous trip
with you in Serbia.  You taught and showed us so much of the country and its
People, history and culture that it is hard to pick out any one favorite place or
experience!  We have fond recollections of everywhere we visited.    
     We appreciated your patience in taking us to spots we especially wanted
to see, even if it meant extending the itinerary (giving us the chance to see
the Iron Gates) or wandering up those narrow back roads in Tara National Park.
Also your careful driving at a pace that enabled us to fully enjoy the countryside
with plenty of stops for pictures of lovely views, haystacks and raspberry fields!
We also enjoyed our stops for refreshments in little places like  Katici where we
could talk and appreciate  the village and country scene,  and we had many
enjoyable evenings at dinner together too—such as with Misko and Kanita at Vilovi.
     Special for us were the friendly, welcoming people we met everywhere.  Our
conversations with them, along with  your  explanations of the hardships Serbia
also has experienced over the years, are helping us to set right the unfavorable
impressions of Serbia (mainly through the media) some people have here in the
United States.
     After we said farewell in Novi Sad (following  our surprise meeting with the
star NBA basketball Player) we had a fine fish dinner with two ophthalmologists
from the conference, in the restaurant on the Danube below Petrovaradin fortress.   
The next day Tanya showed us around Fruska Gora, including lunch at the Perkov’s
traditional farm and  wine tasting (Vinerija Durdic) in Sremski Karlovci.  
We liked the wine so much that we carried two bottles back home in our suitcases!
     We also have looked at our pictures many times….we enclose a few to help you
share in the memories.
    Thank you again for our wonderful trip, and our with for all good things for
you and your family in the coming months.  We’ll be looking for an opportunity
to come back and have you show us more of Serbia and the Balkans!

 After some days, we have come back again to the routine, but with a lot of good memories of the wonderful travel we enjoyed together. I want to thank you both everything you did to organize and drive us in this trip, since it has completely exceeded our expectations. We have visited some really interesting cities and monasteries, driven through incredible landscapes, shared part of our time and experiences with local people and known just a bit more about this amazing area ¡even when were really short of time!
